Nonu Food For Thought.... Economic Food for American Samoa.

Ok heres a food for thought. Theres this tree on island that everyone is so familiar with is the nonu tree. Whats that you say? Never heard of it? Hehe.. Its one those pest trees that's just hard to kill. They just keep coming back from the far beyond. This nonu tree, man could I remember that it was used for many medicinal remedies on island. I for one can attest to its potency. Man, I could remember a while back, when I woke up one morning, I felt this irritating feeling in my left eye.
Come to find out I had a sty or cold sore like on the inside of my left eye lid. Gross right!! Well my grandmother treatment for it, you guessed it the nonu or noni tree!!



What she use was the green leaves and the little white flowers. She would take the green leaves and snap the stems into my eye. Then she would take the white flower and flick in my eye and twirl it around my head. She does this 3 times. Results, next day all healed and gone. No more the sign of it.

Nowadays, the western world is catching up on this local remedy. In the Independent State of Samoa, the nonu industry is now making a return. As reported by nzherald , the nonu fruit is being popularized in the Chinese market. This is where our illustrious leaders should look into. The People of American Samoa just cannot live on handouts alone from good ole Uncle Sam(US).

Why not do a feasibility study? Feasibilty, hmmmm to big of a word. OK lets do research if this will work in Amerika Samoa. ASG don't need to go into business, just make sure that everything is legal and guidelines are set via the FDA. This is an idea to generate an economy, trade, and most of all jobs. Shoot there are 1.3 billion people in China, if we only market to on 1% of that number, shoot that's still a lot of people. Well if what I am saying here is 'easier said than done' type of situation, whats your 2 cents??!!
